Football conditioning is mandatory and begins August 1 (Monday - Friday from 5:30-7:30pm). Full pad practices begin August 8 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the High School. Games will be on Saturdays late August through October and will include both home and away games.
Home games will be held at OHS with away games will be played against other teams in the CYFL. Parents will need to provide transportation to and from all practices and games.
There are no tryouts and teams will be drafted into equal teams facilitated by the Gridiron Club and High School in August.
REQUIRED PLAYER EQUIPMENT
- Cleats, (purple, gold, black or white)
- Padded girdle - (This includes EITHER a 7-pad girdle OR a 5-pad girdle PLUS volleyball style knee pads – any color)
- Mouth guard (purple, gold, black or white)
- Purple socks
- Purple Belt
- Receivers’ gloves optional, (purple, gold, black or white)
CONDITIONING AND PRACTICE
- Conditioning begins Tuesday, August 1–5 from 5:30-7:30pm at the High School
- Conditioning week is mandatory. Note: no player will be allowed to wear full pads until all 10 hours of acclimatization are completed.
- The first five practices are unpadded.
- Players should wear shorts, t-shirt, helmet, mouth guard, and knee pads.
- After a player has completed the first five practices (10 hours of acclimatization) they can begin to wear pads.
