Waukesha County Parks Lake Country Trail section that passes through the City of Oconomowoc will be closed from Oct. 3 through March of 2023 for utility work by the American Transmission Company.
According to information shared by the American Transmission Co. (ATC) the project is to improve reliability in the region and eliminate generation constraints. ATC will be rebuilding the 138,000-volt transmission line near the Lake Country Trail.
Most of the project involves replacing the existing H-frame structures with steel monopoles. The roughly 3.8-mile line runs from the Cooney Substation (West Jefferson Street/Roosevelt Park Area) to the Summit Substation (adjacent to the Pabst Farms YMCA) in the city.
The trail will be completely close while work is being done.
