Pet Licensing & Regulation

Dogs and cats are regulated by sections 174.05 and 174.07 of the Wisconsin Statutes and section 12.03 of the Oconomowoc Municipal Code. No more than three dogs / cats over the age of six months can be kept in any dwelling unit in the city except for a litter of pups that may be kept for five months after their birth.

Dog and cats over the age of five months are required to be licensed annually by the City of Oconomowoc. Licenses expire on December 31 of each year.

License Requirements

  • Completed Dog / Cat License Registration Form
  • Proof of current rabies vaccination (an invoice or statement from your veterinarian which shows the rabies manufacturer, serial number, and expiration date is acceptable proof)
  • License Fee
    • Spayed / neutered pets - $10 per animal per year
    • Pets not spayed / neutered - $15 per animal per year
