Each Taxi Cab driver must be licensed within the city. Licenses shall be issued by the city clerk. Licenses shall be valid for one year and will expire annually on June 30. The fee is $25 ($5 for Driver and $20 for Background Check).
No person, firm, or corporation shall engage in the business of operating taxicabs or other vehicles for transportation of persons for hire within the city without having a valid license from the city for each cab or vehicle operated. No person shall drive an unlicensed cab within the city for hire.
The fees are $25 for the first vehicle and $5 for each additional vehicle.
A certificate of insurance is required with the license application. See Section 12.12 of the Municode for more information.
The taxi owner should schedule vehicle safety inspections with the Police Department and must receive the police's approval.
Common Council approval is required.
