Lawn Irrigation

The Oconomowoc Water Utility does not issue separate water meters for residential irrigation. Calculation of sewer usage during the summer months is based upon city ordinance Chapter 13.50 (2) (d) and reads as follows below.

13.50 (2) (d): Irrigation Allowance for Residential Users (Rep. & recr. #00-0473)
The metered residential water use shall be adjusted to account for consumptive water use during the summer months of May, June, July, August, and September. The volume used as the basis for the sewer service charge for those months shall be the water volume read by the city, with the maximum limitation that the volume in either May, June, July, August, or September shall not exceed the average volume used for the preceding January, February, and March provided the charges for each of the said months are based on a full month’s usage. In the event the current user is a customer without service or billing during either of the months of January, February or March, the base volume for the month for which there was no service or billing for comparison purposes shall be 7,000 gallons.

Commercial / Industrial
The allowance used for residential customers does not apply to commercial or industrial customers. The city ordinance Chapter 27.09 (3) (a) (b) (c) applies to commercial and industrial users and irrigation of their property. It reads as follows.
